Crunchtime

Two weeks from today is when my workplace will be moving into our new facility, and the preparations have taken over my entire life. In between regular work, visits to the new site, and working on plans at our home office with Ken, there is no time of day or evening that I'm not effectively on call.

Therefore, I will be reducing my blogging activities considerably for the next two or three weeks. If I have time I'll be reading blogs and commenting, but I doubt I'll be posting much.

If you wonder what I'm doing the answer is probably one of the following:
1) Working on a spreadsheet or floor plan map of something complicated, like extensions, voice mail, phone type, button programming and other details for 110 telephone jacks.
2) Wandering around at the construction site, getting covered in dust and dodging out of the way of men in overalls working with heavy machinery.
3) Doing extra loads of laundry for myself and my husband, to remove all that dust.
4) Lying on the sofa, with the TV on, staring through the screen to my thoughts on a detail of the relocation that I haven't quite worked out yet.

For the next two weeks at least, that is my whole life. So, wish me luck please, and I'll update you on the other side!

I love building sites. Dust, heavy machines, the smell of fresh paint, big burly men in tight jeans and hard hats. That's the life.

I almost expected you to burst out singing YMCA by the end there.

I hate to disappoint, but for some reason all of our working men are little wiry guys. No hard hats either. They don't care if things fall on our heads. They're that tough.

You are going to be one busy little bee! But how exciting at the same time. A new office, new furniture, all that fun stuff too. :)

We'll be here when you get back so no worries there. Have fun, be gentle on yourself. :)

Sounds like you will be busy. Too busy to blog?? What you mean you are putting real life first??

I like construction sites. A throwback to when I worked on construction crews in my late teens, when I was strong and fit and stupid.

We'll see your Hello Kitty goodness when you're able. :)

Good luck with everything and make sure you find something else in addition to the television to decompress with.

Real life.

It don't get any better than that.

DarcsFalcon: It is all quite fun and exciting, in between the panic attacks. ;-)

LL Cool Joe: Real life feels pretty surreal these days. It's more like I'm one of the rocks in an avalanche. I roll with it, and eventually I'll get to the bottom where I'll finally be able to rest.

darcknyt: I like watching all the giant condo buildings going up in my neighbourhood. It's neat to see how they progress. My own construction site is less fun, since I have to worry about it.

G: Vodka helps too. ;-)

Ily: It's a bonus that it's springtime right now, so all the drives in between old work and new work feel like it's just a great excuse to be outside during the day. If this were all happening during wintertime, it would be unbearably dreary. As it is, it's alright.

Do the construction workers do the whistles and cat calls??? I mean they have to do that, don't they?? It's like a union thing.
