Busy

This week has been packed, mostly with work.  Our new computer software that was supposed to be an upgrade is like an idiot savant that doesn't know how to tie its own shoes.  It can do all sorts of fancy things that the other program couldn't do, but those are nice-to-haves.  It falls flat on the must-haves, unfortunately.  Data entry is taking 4 x as much time as it used to due to the limitations on macros.  Therefore guess who has taken whom a buttload of data to enter this weekend?  Yes, very good, it's me.

I also haven't done any housework in two weeks, so I need to catch up on some basic cleanliness around here.

I have a haircut scheduled, because if my hair gets any pouffier people are going to start calling me "Fluffy".

And this afternoon I am committed to spending some time with a friend who is going through a major personal crisis.  She's a young mother of two going through an ugly divorce from a total a**hole, and he's being cruel to her through his lawyer at every opportunity.  She's seriously a woman on the verge of a nervous breakdown.  At the moment her parents, whom she usually turns to for support, are away on vacation.  Ken and I are going to her place to hang out and keep her company.

So in other words I have a packed schedule - all very meaningful, but woah.  I won't mind when things slow down a bit!  OK, off I go to do lots of stuff.

Wow Spark, the new program sounds like a nightmare. When it means having to take work home, that makes it a definite thing to dislike for me. Sorry I haven't been around much...haven't been online much for a few weeks for different reasons. I'm doing okay, just very busy and needed a break from the online world. Actually it's more of a commitment to spend less time online in general.

Sorry to hear about your friend! Hope that you and Ken are able to cheer her up a bit. Her soon to be ex sounds like a real jerk. Hope he grows up soon and lets the woman have some peace.

Glad your friend has you and Ken (and hopefully others) to fill in when she needs you! Enjoy your 'me time' getting your hair done.

Wow. Can you say "overwhelmed," boys and girls? I knew y'could.

I can completely sympathize with you on the work situation. Our business group just got told -- not asked, not approached, just told -- we're being kicked out of our space in our building to a new location, co-mingled with the customer service people of the other business group in the building. (They want our offices, frankly.) I'll not only be moving back into a cubicle from my window office, but I'll be responsible to make sure all of our nightly automated processes and the intranet pages so carefully built by our group since 2004, will still work when they move our servers into their rack and re-wire the building to eliminate our T1 line.

That means the server names are being changed, and all the code which references those servers will have to be updated.

I'm so excited. Can you tell?

And so, I have such heartburn for you about the new "better" software which isn't. So, I'll be praying for you.

And your friend, too. I'm sorry about that situation. I have personal experiences with someone close to me who went through something similar.

Have a great weekend somehow, Fluffy. :)

Friends helping friends through critical times is a blessed gift. You may not really know how much your support means to her. I had such friends and am forever grateful.

Can understand about the work thing, as my guv'ment blew tens of millions of taxpayer dollars on a crappy financial/human resource system that still doesn't work 8 years later.

You are indeed the rare individual who goes above and beyond for a friend.

I'm so sorry about the new software that is really more like "PITAware." I hope things get fixed soon.

You're a great friend, Spark, to go help your friend through her divorce. That is such a hard place to be in, and women going though it need all the support they can get.

I bet you look cute when you're fluffy!

*hugs*

Tracy: I think we did a pretty good job of cheering her up. The only tears shed while we were there were those of her 5-year-old when she fell and got a boo-boo on her knee. Fortunately that was easily fixed with a Little Mermaid bandaid.

Jenski: Thanks, my hair is much better now.

Ron: I'll let you call me Fluffy, but only because you're a special friend.

DarcKnyt: Aw, that bites. If all it meant was moving out of your office into a cube, it would be disappointing, but having to rewrite all your scripts sucks big time! Ai ai ai - good luck!

Granny Annie: Thanks for the affirmation. :-)

GB Miller: Our provincial government has gotten involved in an "e-health" initiative, so they have their grubby paws on this project too, albeit indirectly. That darned guv'ment!

DarcsFalcon: I just Googled PITAware and had a good LOL at the results. Exactly! :-)

Fluffy is quite a cute nickname though. :D How does your hair look now?

Try not to work too hard. A clean home is the sign of a wasted life. :D
