Queen Street: A Photo Essay

I went to Queen St. West with Ken.  He had to get his hair done.  I had to buy a bunch of Mother's Day gifts.  (Mom, step-mom, grandmother, and other grandmother.)  While I was waiting to find out how long Ken's appointment was going to take, I amused myself by reading the packaging of this very strange hair care line. Click on each photo to get the mega-sized version, so you can read all the strangeness.

This dog decided to hang out with me for a while.  He/she was friendly but shy, and badly in need of the services of a hair stylist.  I never managed to catch sight of the dog's eyes.  Maybe s/he didn't have any.  Maybe s/he was navigating by echolocation.   It's totally possible!

I figured out how much time I had to go shopping while Ken was busy being primped.  But I couldn't stand to spend the entire time inside stores.  First I had to visit the park.

All the trees were in bloom, but this one was the prettiest.

Then I hit the stores.  I found the place to go to if you're in the market for a vintage light fixture.

Or a life-sized wooden-soldier.

Or a pair of absolutely ridiculous shoes.

Or a pair of lace overalls, for the aggressively immodest.

Queen Street never fails to offer a variety of colourful sights.

I did end up finding the gifts and cards I needed for everyone on my list, but I'm not telling the details!  Because one of the people on that list reads this blog.  You know who you are.  You're going to have to wait until next week!

Great shots, Spark! I love your photo essays. I should try one.

All those pictures and not a single one Instagram'ed.

Hmmm... I'm hoping you didn't get the lace overalls for your Grandma... just sayin...

That tree looks like it is in bloom with cotton candy.

I want that soldier. Wonder how much they were asking for it.

WMofR is hysterical.

Had to do a double take on Ken getting primped. First thought it said getting pimped. lol

Looks like you had a great day.

DarcKnyt: Instagram is one internet trend that I have not participated in. I like to keep my photos simple. An interesting subject and good composition ought to be enough.

Ron: Nah. I got them for you! Better stay home on Monday so that you can sign for the package.

Granny Annie: Mmm, cotton candy. I hadn't thought of it, but you're absolutely right.
Er, what does WMofR stand for? I re-read my whole blog post and couldn't figure it out.

Granny Annie: I figured it out. Warped Mind of Ron. Gotcha. :-)

I always think we must have great character if a dog likes us. A good compliment from that dog.

I love this! I didn't realize the blossoms were already out here. Thanks!

I agree with Lynn - I always feel good when animals like me. Thanks for taking us window shopping!

*applause* Great job on the photo essay, Spark! You put that together so well. :)

Although, reading over those shampoo bottles, I got the feeling they should change their name from Evo to Emo. Some of those were pretty out there! LOL

And that tree! Gorgeous!

Lynn: I am in the middle of reading the Dog Whisperer's book, "Cesar's Way". I followed his advice while interacting with this dog, and I think that's why it felt comfortable spending time with me.

Emma: Yes, it's the perfect time for blossom appreciation. Get out there for a walk, quick, before the wind begins to blow all the petals away!

Jenski: My pleasure! Wouldn't it have been fun if we could have literally, physically all gone on that walk together?

Vanessa: Thanks! I thought of you when I was looking at the crazy shoes. :-)

The shoes were pretty awesome. :D

Okay those bottles are mighty strange!! I wonder whose idea it was to the write those? Whoever they are I hope they are now looking for a new job.

So the park and all these shops. Ken must have had more than a dry cut then? ;)
