Ken is sick. Yesterday he lay on the sofa under a blanket all day, chain-sucking Ricola cough drops and reminding me every ten minutes that his throat hurt.
I got worried that I was getting sick too. The fatigue! The heaviness of limb! Woe betide!
As it turns out, that wasn't the fault of any virus, but of my own over-enthusiastic exercising. I heft hand weights every other morning, in the interests of fending off Middle-Aged-Floppy-Upper-Arm-Syndrome. Yesterday I was still feeling upset by thoughts of all the crap that went down in my workplace this past week. So I decided to get the anger out of my system by doing a Super-Workout. I turned up the radio, did twice my usual number of sets (well, that's just two instead of one, because I'm really not that much of a workout fiend), and then at the end I danced it out like a madwoman.
It seems I may have overdone it a little.
Anyway, after a decent night's sleep, I'm feeling much improved. I'll probably be suffering more tomorrow, with the Two-Days-Later sore muscles phenomenon. But hey, I'll deal with it. Far better to have a days' worth of mild pain than a sandpaper throat and aching sinuses for a week. And I'm not feeling as bitter as I was. Success!

Overdoing it while dancing to the radio? I'm loving this mental image :-)
Why did images from Flashdance pop into my head when you said dancing to the radio? LOL
Aurora: I was on fire! I should set up a web cam. ;-)
Ron: OMG - Maybe BECAUSE YOU'RE PSYCHIC? At one point I actually re-enacted the Flashdance workout scene, at least the part with the super-fast jogging-on-the-spot. I was all, Look at me! I'm Jennifer Beals! She's a maniac, maniac, I know-ho.
yay for workout aches!! i love those. i have some myself from that dancing last night! yesss! that's the best kind of dancing-- the workout kind! lmao @ woe betide. throwback phrase!
You maniac. ;-) (And I now have a nice 80's earworm.)
Thank goodness it wasn't an illness. That is why I just avoid exercise...lol
Jameil: I love old-timey expressions. It's been too long since I've called anyone a rapscallion, or a ne'er-do-well. ;-]
Keera: Yay 80's! I try to balance my iTunes library, but it's still heavily weighted in favour of 80's pop. Hungry like the wolf! Hungry like the wolf!
Karen: Good policy. If I knew what was good for me I'd stop flinging my body about so heedlessly. I always end up spraining something. ;-)
You can't save him. Put him out of his misery now. You can use a baseball bat to smash his head in.
It's the only humane thing to do.
:)
Sounds like your arms are suffering for what happened in your workplace now! If you have a hard time moving body parts, you've definitely worked out too hard. :) Glad it wasn't sickness and hope Ken is on the mend!
That is a great way to work out issues, by working out! I like to do that as well. The image of you dancing, swinging your hair around like Jennifer Beals puts a big smile on my face! Isn't it so funny how we all think flashdance when someone mentions dancing away frustrations. What a powerful little movie!
Dance like nobody is watching! Because nobody is watching... Really... Check the window...
Cool - glad it helped and you feel better.
And yeah, well, having a sick man at home is a pain in ones behind ;)
I love Flashdance and yes, webcam would be fine :D
Oooh sweetie. I know that feeling only too well. I hope you are feeling oodles better soon.
Cxx
Aric Blue: While I'm not opposed to euthanasia in extreme cases, the suffering caused by fatigue and postnasal drip probably doesn't really justify it. However, can I get your OK to smash up some of my coworkers?
Jenski: Thanks! Ken is on the mend, although slowly. As of Monday at 11-ish, he reports mild improvements in his condition. :-)
1218blog: Next time I'm going to wear a headband, stirrup tights and tape my feet. ;-)
Unsigned: I know a better way to dance like no one's watching: close the window-blinds. ;-p
Nicole: Ken wants you all to know that I exagerrated his complaining for comic effect. Poor guy. First he gets sick, and then I talk smack about him on my blog. ;-)
Claire: Thanks! As of Monday morning, 11:30-ish, I am happy to report a vast improvement in my condition. :-)
