I take it all back

After all my whining, yesterday turned out to be a gorgeous day.

I took a 2-mile walk, past quirky retail stores, over bridges, and along the edges of ravines. The sun was brilliant; the snow was melting. I knelt to pat a patch of emerald-green, velvety moss. I was sorry that I hadn't brought my camera.

I love this enormous, awkward, mixed-up city, with its generous network of untended parkland interwoven with the streets, homes, and skyscrapers. All I want to do in good weather is get out on foot to appreciate every inch of it. 1 degree Celsius in full sun is good enough for me. I don my parka and my hiking boots, and off I go.

Dinner at Mom's. The Dude says "Hi" to y'all, from his favourite cubby-hole by the kitchen table. Officially, it's the storage spot for my mom's placemats, but they don't get much use anymore because they're always covered in cat hair.

My mom got him going by scratching the outside of the cabinet near his rear end. He got a little over-enthusiastic turning himself around to find out what the noise was all about, and fell out, butt-first, onto the floor, taking a placemat with him. The placemat landed on his head.

I'm off to enjoy more quality time outside in the sun.

Happy Easter weekend!

Jameil: It's just a shade under 34 degrees Farenheit. I'm not yet ready to venture outdoors without my long-johns under my jeans.

Casdok: I wish I'd still had my camera out for a shot of him sitting, stunned, with a placemat draped over half his face. :-)

Cats crack me up. Always. Something about how they do the silliest things and then immediately go into a nonchalant "I meant to do that" pose. Love 'em!

The cat goes there on its own or is that your storage spot for him? :) Hope you have a nice Easter and more good weather for walks.

Not much luck here... down to about 10 degrees right now, and still dropping - freezing out there. I need warm weather right now!

Happy Easter!

Keera: Yeah, it's funny how most of the time they have no shame. Although one time my mom had a long-haired cat, whose coat got so out-of-control in the summer that she had the vet give the cat a buzz cut. The cat still had a big, fluffy head, with a little newly-sheared-lamb body. And that cat was plenty embarrassed!

Ron: Of course the cat goes there on his own, because he wasn't really supposed to be there, and he probably knew it. Sometimes his bigger brother jumps in there too, and they're really cozy, all squished in together.

Tookie Tail: Thanks! Happy Easter! :-)

R.E.H.: Aw, man! :-p I hope that spring heads over to your part of the world very soon.

aww! what a dude! thank god for relatives' pets--they're so cute, and you don't have to clean up after them.

It snowed here through this morning and it's freezing. Welcome to spring, Chicago style! Glad it was nice enough north of the border to take a walk!

Poor little kitty ;)

Aurora: Yes, I miss having cats but I don't miss having to clean the litter box. :-p

Nilsa: Argh! Enough with the snow already. We also have snow in the forecast for this coming week.

Unsigned: Thanks! Happy Egg Day to you too.

Nicole: The Dude's OK. He's still technically a kitten, with bouncy rubber bones. :-)
