The guys have been on duty 24/7 lately, providing my mom with lots of love and silly distractions from her ordeal.
This is Tinker:
And this is The Dude:
Tinker is the strong, silent type. He's bigger than The Dude, but he doesn't take advantage of his dominant status. He's more likely to stay calm, to observe instead of jumping right in, and to sit still on a lap for some snuggles.
The Dude is a loveable mischief-maker. He's the one who hides under the bed and attacks my mom's toes while she's changing the sheets. He'll be the first to gallop after a cat toy that's been thrown down the stairs. If you try to hang on to him for hugs, he'll squirm until you let him go.
He loves to sit on top of an old, folded-up quilt, purring, kneading it with his paws, and sucking on the edges until they're soaking wet. He also likes to get into my mom's closet and nibble at the edges of her clothes. When she puts on a blouse to go out, there's a high likelihood that the hem will be damp.
I can't wait to go back and visit with them again.
Edited to add: Much as I wish these guys were my cats, technically they are my mom's. They live with her, and I live with Ken, who is allergic to everything with fur and feathers.

I love cats! And your two are gorgeous, and a matched set, as well. Thanks for the pics and introduction.
It's amazing how pets seem to sense when you are upset and seem to work even harder at being cute and cuddly to help out. Thanks for the pics of your cats.
They are so cute! I'd love to have a cat, but my mom is so allergic she wouldn't be able to visit. Luckily, the dog doesn't seem to bother her.
Thanks for sharing the pictures.
Clarification (to be posted as an edit to my main post also):
Much as I wish these guys were my cats, technically they are my mom's. They live with her, and I live with Ken, who is allergic to everything with fur and feathers.
Keera: Yes, these two brothers are very handsome. I wish they had obliged by posing for a photo together, but no such luck this time. :-)
Ron: Pets are very perceptive that way. Except for fish. Or maybe fish are perceptive and they get really frustrated because they can't express themselves. ;-)
Kell: Lucky that your mom can manage your dog! My step-mom has a "hypo-allergenic" dog. I can't wait until someone breeds a hypo-allergenic cat!
ok i can't see those pics but no. i like cats but if i had something sucking on my clothing i might vomit.
Can't see the pics either... :(
Cats are fun little creatures, though!
Jameil: For some reason your comment struck me as incredibly funny. I think it's the contrast between my mom loving these cats like they're her babies, and you in the corner, rolling your eyes and gagging. ;-)
R.E.H.: Argh! Stupid Blogger broke my links. I uploaded the photos again so you should be able to see them now.
Awww they are cute :D!!
I'm glad they keep your Mom some good company!
Being allergic sucks :(

(Is there a reason for you having the comment section set the way it is?
:)
Nicole: This is the default Blogger comment setup. Do you have a suggestion for improving it in some way? I'm still learning some of the technicalities of maintaining a blog, so I'm open to suggestions.
I don't heart blogger too much to begin with, but that's just me ;)
There's a setting that some people use where you, as a non-blogger-user can put you email-address and HP-address in.
I like that, because I have not used my blogger account in ages and hate to send people into no-man's land ;)
awww adorable. I just love kitties.
ok i can see them now. yes they are cute! awww. but don't suck on my clothes!!
Nicole: OK, I see what you're getting at. I had my comments set to be available to "Registered Users". I've just changed it to be open to "Everyone, including Anonymous Users". Let me know if that opens up the fields you need when you're adding your next comment. I am experimenting.
Actually, I think you can add your non-Blogger address to the "General" section of your Blogger profile, in the "Home Page URL" field. Then it shows up under your photo as a "My Web Page" link. I've seen it work for other non-Blogger bloggers. Give it a try and let me know. :-)
Maxie: Yay Kitties! I had to restrain myself from posting too many photos because they're all so super-cute. :-)
Jameil: Alright! I'm glad the photos are showing now. I promise to keep these particular cats far away from your closet. ;-)
YES, much better :)
Cute cats! I love how you describe their personalities. Now I have a strange vision of the Dude in your mum's closet, munching away on hemlines.
I'm glad you have cats in your life. Mine are mostly limited to Cute Overload. My mum has two cats though... I definitely think cats help with the solitary life. They're very quiet, and yet affectionate too. Did you know that 14th-century anchoresses lived a life of solitude... except for having cats?
Oh, adorable. I am a cat fanatic. I used to have 2 myself but we have since became cat-less. I always mention to my hubby that we should get another but he keeps dissuading me. They are just so nice to have around.
Awww, I have a black and white kitty too. His name is Pokey.
Aurora: I had no idea there even was such a thing as an anchoress. I learned something today!
It doesn't sound like such a bad life.
Melinda: I miss living with cats too. I hope your hubby can be convinced of the advantages! (I just mis-typed hubby as "huggy". That's a good typo! ;-)
The Ex: Pokey is an excellent name for a cat. :-)
Oh my goodness! The pictures didn't come up the other day when I read this, but they did this morning. Those kitties are adorable. They are totally distraction worthy. Glad your Mom has them and that you get to hang out with them!
